Orleans
Where
routes 6, 6A, and 28 converge, you’ll find some of the heaviest
traffic in Orleans. For travelers making their way up to the
Outer Cape towns, passing through Orleans is not only necessary
but also a major hassle. Bordering the Atlantic on one side and
Cape Cod Bay on the other, Orleans offers great beaches and
bays. A barrier beach better known as Nauset Beach borders the
Atlantic Ocean and stretches a span of 9 miles. With great
waves, the beach is a favorite among surfers and youngsters. The
protected waters of Pleasant Bay are great for kayakers and
other paddlers. The Cape Cod Rail Trail (a 25-mile bike trail
that starts in Dennis and continues to Wellfleet) runs through
the center of town, where you’ll find great shops and eateries.
