Mashpee
Mashpee’s
native inhabitants were Wampanoag Indians, and they host the
Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Pow Wow each year in July. It is a
spectacle of traditional songs and dances, and draws a crowd of
locals and visitors alike. For those seeking a more modern and
refined activity, the Mashpee Commons shopping center features
up-scale dining and shops. The New Seabury resort and country
club has shops, beaches, golf courses, restaurants, homes and
condos, and is located in close proximity to Mashpee Commons.
The only notable beach, South Cape Beach State Park, has
boardwalks and nature trails. With few dining and lodging
options, Mashpee is a rather quiet town that draws little
tourist attention.
