Falmouth
With numerous harbors and beaches, Falmouth boasts more
coastline than any town on the Cape. It is comprised of the
residential villages of North, East, and West Falmouth and
Sippewisset, the campus-like research and tourist center of
Woods Hole, the upscale and trendy downtown Falmouth and
Falmouth Heights, and the historic Danville. Between its wooded
neighborhoods, quiet side streets, and miles of beaches,
Falmouth is a prime location for rest and relaxation. In
contrast to its residential villages, Falmouth’s Woods Hole,
Falmouth Village (downtown and Main Street), and Falmouth
Heights offer the visitor bustling streets and a great variety
of shops and restaurants.
Main attractions in Falmouth include the Shining Sea bike trail,
a scenic biking and walking trail offering views of Vineyard
Sound, and Old Silver Beach, one of the Cape’s finest and most
popular beaches. Surf Drive is a long road along the southern
coast of Falmouth with outstanding scenery. Also the site of the
famous annual Falmouth Road Race, picturesque Surf Drive
bypasses several Cape beaches on Vineyard Sound.
